Position Summary:
Under general direction, supervises the storage, receipt, issuance, shipment and protection of all material and equipment. Responsible for directing inventory control program for warehouse operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs and supervises the receipt and unpacking of goods; checking against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., verifying nomenclature, identification and quantity; maintaining records of goods received; rejects, damaged, excess or misdirected goods, routes material to store or warehouse destinations
- Supervises warehouse and receiving personnel, to include training, cross-training, evaluating personnel
- Maintains accurate inventory balances with respect to identification, location, and quantity of materials within the store and warehouse locations
- Maintains receiving, warehouse, and office areas neat, orderly, and clean inside and out, and to eliminate any hazards to operating a safe environment
- Maintains up-to-date written procedures and instructions relating to the receiving, warehouse, and inventory control areas. Recommends and implements approved process and procedures to ensure best business practices are used for ensuring the highest level of inventory accuracy. Ensures the receiving and warehouse areas evolve to a higher level of quality, service and efficiency and not only meet, but also exceed company requirements
- Performs manual and clerical duties related to the receipt and movement of materials
- Maintains necessary files and documentation as they relate to goods movements
- Initiates daily physical inventory count program; researches and reconciles variances as required
- Performs inventory discrepancy analysis to identify negative trends and recommend corrective actions
- Implements approved processes and systems to maintain checks and balances, including monitoring and maintaining records to ensure trace ability of materials
- Communicates with vendors to resolve purchase order and shipping discrepancies
- Assists Accounts Payable Department in researching and resolving goods receipt and price discrepancies
- Audits sales receipts, large orders, and goods receipts and transactions for discrepancies
- Assists in developing inventory control training programs
- Performs other job duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Effective oral and written communications and leadership skills
- Must be analytical and accurate with excellent problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
- Ability to create appropriate written documentation
- Hand trucks, forklifts, dollies, and pallet jacks.
- Must be proficient using MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
- Must obtain forklift certification within 2 weeks of hire.
- Must have a valid drivers license, a good driving record and be insurable
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Must be able pass background check to access Military Installations
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Usual: The working environment is a warehouse possibly without air conditioning and with a cement floor where 90% of the day is spent. Temperatures vary from approximately 40 degrees in the winter to 100+ degrees in the summer.
Special: Some exposure to weather and physical hazards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Usual: In exercising these functions, must be able to exert up to 100 lbs. Of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Requires ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
Special: In the process of moving boxes and packages from one location to another, must lift, bend, stoop, climb and pull. Position requires climbing ladders in order to store items in storage racks. Individuals in this job will be on their feet or on the forklift approximately 90% of each day. Will need to help delivery driver on occasion.
