Development Clerk

Position Summary:

Performs a full range of departmental support functions designed to create a favorable imagine of the organization and enhance fundraising and charitable donations. Includes creating a variety of communication and media materials (written, photography, etc.); maintaining donor base; soliciting donations; and assisting with special projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Writes and coordinates distribution of a variety of communication pieces (introductory mailings, donor acknowledgments, direct mail, company newsletter, press releases, etc.
  2. Processes donor contributions according to established guidelines; maintains current records in database, grant tracking and reporting; runs reports for VP of HR & Development as needed
  3. Assists with special fundraising activities that increase the organization’s visibility within the community and with foundation and corporate funder audiences
  4. Cultivates relations with media entities and potential donors.
  5. Solicits donations from new donors
  6. Assists with management of social media (STLB website, Twitter, Facebook; U-Tube, etc.)
  7. Participates in fundraising events off site
  8. Supervise volunteers for special events and projects
  9. Provide assistance to the front reception office when needed
  10. Performs other job duties as assigned

Job QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or GED required
  2. Minimum one-year experience in event planning and working with volunteers
  3. Ability to speak, write, and understand English is required
  4. Computer skills required including Microsoft Suite
  5. Good organization skills, detailed-oriented skills and outstanding customer service skills required
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required; must be able to write clear, structured, articulate, and accurate
  7. Must have good interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with 

others both internally and externally

  • Must possess strong detail-oriented skills, high degree of initiative, ability to work with limited supervision, ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work under sometimes stressful conditions and deadlines
  • Required to work some weekends and evenings for special events and activities
  • Current state driver’s license and proof of insurability
  • Good driving record required

Required Experience
