Warehouse Clerk, HAZMAT – Travis AFB

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, assists the Hazardous Material Supervisor with daily operations including customer service, receipt and delivery of materials, inventory control, and storage of HAZMAT items; follows proper safety procedures to ensure safe handling of all HAZMAT items. (not part of referral program)

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes incoming orders from customers; validates requests for HAZMAT items assuring they are authorized according to the HAZMAT authorization process described in AFI 32-7086
  • Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors
  • Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment/delivery
  • Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as handtruck, conveyor, or sorting bins
  • Pack, seal, and label, to prepare materials for delivery, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter
  • Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications
  • Performs other job duties as they are assigned

Hourly

$20.00 – $28.00 per hour

Required Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Two years experience working in shipping/receiving
  • Proficiency using computer/Window applications required
  • Excellent customer services skills required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Ability to utilize hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklift or other material handling equipment
  • Must successfully complete initial and annual refresher Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and Hazardous Communication training. (Note: We will provide)
  • Handles all HAZMAT items according to safety regulations
  • Current state drivers license and proof of insurability
  • Physical activities include bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis
  • Must be forklift certifiable
